Assistive Technology Database

Assistive Technology (AT) includes any type of device, equipment, modification, or system that allows a person with a disability or long-term health condition to live and work more independently.

For the farmers and agricultural workers working in production agriculture that AgrAbility PA serves, AT means that they can continue to pursue their passion for farming while reducing secondary injury and increasing safety on the farm.

AT comes in many different types and addresses a variety of needs – from low tech to high tech to accessibility and mobility – it makes it possible for a person to complete a task or job that might otherwise be difficult to do without it.

Below is a collection of frequently recommended assistive technology by AgrAbility PA that are commonly utilized in Pennsylvania agricultural. Depending on the disability, type of farm, and the challenges being faced, some or all these categories may be used to assist a farmer or agricultural worker in performing a task or job on the farm. While assistive technology can serve the public at large, other products can have a particular value to people with disabilities or health conditions to improve their ability to remain in or return to production agriculture.
