January 2021: AgrAbility PA Project Highlights
The AgrAbility PA staff kicked off 2021 at the Keystone Farm Show in York, Pa from Jan. 5-7. The display included take-away paper information; digital photos and videos of farmers and assistive technology; and QR codes for contactless access to AgrAbility PA materials online using a mobile device. AgrAbility PA is looking forward to staffing events in-person -- but until then, the staff will continue to reach farmers and agricultural workers in a safe and healthy way.
AgrAbility PA Project Assistant Abbie Spackman joined Pennsylvania's Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding for a Facebook Live panel discussion on Cultivating Diversity: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Agriculture on Jan. 14. The panel focused on groups and programs that are working to increase opportunities and remove barriers in agriculture. Panelists include: Feed the Barrel, Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS), National Young Farmers and others to discuss Cultivating Diversity.
“We must feed equality to feed the future. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is committed to combatting injustices that have prevented equal access to opportunity throughout the agriculture industry,” said Sec. Redding.
